What’s Really in Your Fragrance?

What’s Inside Your Fragrance Matters

Discover the ingredients, decisions, and care behind DeCuzzi Fragrance.

The first thing you notice about a fragrance is how it smells. The brightness of the opening. The warmth that follows. The scent that stays with you.

Behind that experience is a formula—and every ingredient has a role.

At DeCuzzi Fragrance, we believe understanding how your fragrance is made should be part of choosing it. We bring together thoughtful ingredient selection, personal craftsmanship, and a love of beautiful scent.

Why We Started Asking Questions

After Robert’s leukemia diagnosis, our family began looking more closely at the products we used every day. Anthony’s interest in creating fragrances for his father grew into a shared commitment to learning, developing, and building something meaningful together.

That experience continues to shape our approach. We want to understand the materials we work with, make deliberate choices, and explain those choices clearly.

For us, that is where clean science begins.

Ingredient Concerns Deserve Specific Answers

There are real reasons to pay attention to fragrance ingredients.

Lilial, also known as butylphenyl methylpropional, was once used to create floral notes in perfumes and other cosmetics. Great Britain prohibited its sale in cosmetic products from December 2022 because of concerns about reproductive harm. Authorities have since continued taking action against affected products.

Another fragrance ingredient, Lyral—also called HICC—has prompted recalls under European cosmetics rules because of its potential to cause allergic reactions in sensitized individuals.

These examples show why ingredient identity, current safety information, and responsible formulation deserve attention. A familiar brand name or attractive bottle cannot answer those questions on its own.

What Goes Into Our Fragrances

We develop our compositions using carefully selected natural and synthetic aromatic materials.

Each contributes something specific: freshness, floral character, warmth, depth, or the way a fragrance develops over time. We consider quality, intended concentration, and available safety information alongside the scent itself.

Our formulations are:

- Made without parabens

- Made without phthalates

- Made without formaldehyde

- Vegan and cruelty-free

These are concrete choices that define our approach. We also recognize that an ingredient’s absence is only one part of understanding a finished formula.

Understanding Natural and Synthetic Ingredients

We appreciate the richness of natural materials and the possibilities that modern perfumery offers.

We evaluate ingredients individually. A botanical origin does not remove the possibility of sensitivity: FDA identifies fragrance materials such as linalool, limonene, and citral among potential allergens.

That is why we focus on the complete formulation and acknowledge that everyone’s skin and sensitivities are different. Our fragrances contain aromatic ingredients, and we do not promise allergy-free wear.

If you have a known ingredient sensitivity, contact us with your questions before choosing a scent.

Luxury in the Wearing Experience

Our goal is a fragrance you look forward to wearing.

We develop each composition with attention to its opening, its balance, and the character it reveals as it settles. We pursue depth and lasting enjoyment while giving every scent its own personality.

For us, refinement comes through the work: evaluating a blend, making thoughtful adjustments, and paying attention to the details.

Personal Care Behind Every Bottle

Our fragrances are filled, labeled, inspected, and finished by hand in New Jersey.

As a father-and-son business, we are personally connected to what we make and to the people who choose it. Your questions and feedback help us keep learning and improving.

We want you to discover a scent you love—and understand the principles behind it.
